Garrett Viera Bivens Foundation
Promoting a Healthy Mom & Strong Healthy Baby
Garrett Viera Bivens Foundation (GVB Foundation) is a non-profit organization to assist in providing the resources for a Healthy Mom and Strong Healthy Baby.
The foundation will provide education, prenatal testing including metabolic, biochemistry, and genomic, and nutritional and dietary recommendations. We will provide services and supplements to those unable to pay with a commitment to a healthy pregnancy and baby.
Our volunteer staff devotes 50 percent of their time to the education and clinical guidance of women in the reproductive age group and in pregnancy.
We are devoting the remainder of our time in the establishment of protocols and resources for testing, individualized optimal nutrition (ION) and supplement regimens and guidelines for healthy vaccination programs.
We wish to reach out to the entire community (and nation) and will provide the ION and prenatal supplements at no or reduced cost based on ability to pay established by poverty guidelines.
The foundation established in March, 2006 in honor of Garrett Viera Bivens, September 8, 2004 - March 12, 2006. In his life, he attended 5 medical conferences with me, one in my womb, and 3 while I nursed him during the lectures and another in which he intermittently attended all the festivities and meals.
At a few weeks of age he became an honorary Gynecologist, came with me to my office every day, and even saw patients with me until I needed a babysitter at the office with me, a position one of my nurses excitedly accepted. He would always make his friendly appearances and when you looked into his big beautiful eyes and at his generous wide toothed grin, you felt instant deep love and happiness.
From him, our family, my patients, our friends, and community experienced deep joy and profound love that with his death has brought such vast sorrow. But as we look within that sorrow we see the tremendous joy he gave us and will continue to, and benefit many other babies, and families through this program, and his example.
Certainly, Garrett was a strong healthy baby and we want everyone to know that joy to keep, kiss, cuddle, and hold tight. Having a strong healthy baby begins before pregnancy and continues through pregnancy, birth and after with health, individualized optimal nutrition, genetically based care, and continues through infancy.
However, as strong and healthy as that baby is, safety is paramount. Garrett drowned in an instant and I never want anyone to experience this loss and tragedy. What I do want is for everyone to experience the joy of healthy and happy motherhood and a strong healthy baby!
The Garrett V. Bivens foundation has been established to support this program and make it available to all parents.
We give you our love and hope.
